Poetry Drums And Noise
03:34
|

POETRY DRUMS AND NOISE
ten thousand hours
poetry drums and noise
for a meagre crowd
songs become nothing
but this is my church
my home
this is my religion i know
i have come so far
laugh all you want to
but the voices in my head
would die slowly
out of breath
and out of key
if i was to stand here
if i was to settle
i would decay
oh how i need
all the voices in my head
stage lights are fading
brave souls stumble home
silence is coming
thoughts outnumber words
did we entertain you well
did we light a fire or not
is time to stop
you will never understand

No Old Clothes
03:08
|

NO OLD CLOTHES
to musoma dear
where roads are made of dust
i have friends to see
who sing the hardest words i know
to where the city ends
no bags
no old clothes
without maps to guide us there
we’ll leave without a trace
the bridges of mostar
the wine in mendoza
the rivers in passau
or a place we can call ours
when i turn the key to leave
with only the things we need
i know we may not reach
somewhere to stand still
imagine the songs we’ll write
the long motorcycle rides
the lake
the fishermen
yeah phone me some time
when i turn the key to leave
with only the things we nee
i know we may not reach
somewhere to stand still
to stand still
when i turn the key to leave
with only the things we need
i know we may not reach
somewhere to stand still

THE SUN POLISHED THEIR MEDALS
give me your dreams
put me into orbit
i’ll be your hope
and when i return
i'll have stories you won't believe
they will decorate me you know
i'll leave you standing on the ground
the men stood shoulder to shoulder
the sun polished their medals
for nation glory and fame
they gave call to get there first
i left you standing on the ground
i think the collar is too tight
can you still hear my heart beating
are there no more commands
it's been hours
it's been hours
hours and hours and hours
i left you standing on the ground

THE STREETS WHERE WE WOULD SKATE
the park is up for sale
the clouds are rolling in
it is mid november
the daylight dies out too soon
the public pool
the classroom
the streets where we would skate
all that we owned
became your money
it’s gone
never coming back
i shake my head in despair
do you see the iceberg too
draw me a new map
chart a us a new course
would you sell your name
would you turn your coat
would you sell the playground where you laughed with me
the worlds is such a fair and loving place
all that we need is shared in a king solomon way
i want to run
want to run
want to run
away from it all
do you want to run
oh just run
oh just run
away from it all
would you sell your name
would you
would you sell the streets street where we would skate as kids
skate as kids
skate as kids

Standing In Snow
03:33
|

STANDING IN SNOW
outside the station
another deep breath
time to get going
i am driftwood in the ocean
i am an imprint on the bed sheets
there is always a train
for someone set on leaving
for those who never promise
to stay when clouds are forming
how i ran from you darling
the band played a song of rebellion
and then something else
that i don’t remember
i had my thoughts elsewhere
when the singer sang her heart out
there is always a train
to novi sad and beyond
to disappear and forget
when leaving is surviving
how i ran from you darling
i turn the ship to find a lighthouse
im am a bow going everywhere
there’s always a train
waiting for me somewhere
the rails the rhythm beating
the sound of new directions
how i ran from you darling
there is always a train
for someone set on leaving
for those who never promise
to stay when clouds are forming
how i ran from you darling just like this

Board Up The Windows
03:16
|

BOARD UP THE WINDOWS
i know the ballroom and the smiles will be ours
we'll see the night hold our hands as we dance
the drummer counted four
we swirled
wear that dress
when you know
there's a storm out there to call in every wave
shut it out
on the dance floor
teach me how to move like you
i hear the wind is picking up close the door
board up the windows
orchestra play one last song
the drummer counted four
for us
somehow love
we'll break this glass
their boots
their borders
their hate
their war
let the echoing words that will burn it down
light the winter sky

I Am Natalia Sedova
03:20
|

I AM NATALIA SEDOVA
burn every photograph
let the flames win
the new year is calling me
soon i won't be here
i met you in paris
your eyes your ideas your smile
gave me no sleep
our hands wouldn’t let go
you were my friend
i think it was 1902
every time there was trouble i stood by your side
in the rain i kept you dry
and every time you had doubts i said we’ll be just fine
no storm could ever send us adrift
i did your dishes
gave you children
stayed up all night
and i kept our house clean
when that woman stole you from me
me i stand aside
my books are forgotten and so are my speeches
no one recognizes my face
maybe i’ll get my share
maybe tables will turn
on the day they lay me down
i told your story
to the world
because i loved you
i told your story
they will never forget about you
me i stand aside

She Takes Everything She Finds With Her Home
tie these sheets
hurry up
i'm sure we'll reach the grass below
cross the field
into the woods
find the road to somewhere else
when the search light came on
when the dogs called our names
when the rain fell down
we flew over every wall
where the brown shirts hide away
even thoughts become ice
march your miles
raise your flag
call out your orders
flowers rot
they will never grow at all
when the search light came on
when the dogs called our names
when the rain fell down
we flew over every wall
breathe in my friend

Elicia

ELICIA
we slept in your chrysler as
the rain came falling down
the empty parking lot
home for the night
and as sharp memories wear down
i wonder what became of you
i saw you on the zagreb train
at the station in berat
for moment i heard your voice in brno
you follow me through every street
that i walk for the first time
i always travel by myself
somehow it came with age
a city grabs my by the hand to lead
maybe i’ll settle here
make new friends
never to return
as i dance upon rails to come home
as i dance upon rails to come home
my coat needs sowing
with the needle i will find
when i run upon rails to come home
see you somewhere
see you soon
see you somewhere
see you soon
